Ghost Story
One dark, cold night, a woman and her baby were taking a trip into town when unexpectedly their car broke down. They were only 6 miles from town, so the woman decided she would just walk. If she was lucky a car would pick her up, or so she thought.
So she started walking down the road through the cool night with a sleeping baby in her arms. 10 minutes down the road, a large semi-truck came barreling down the road, lighting the darkness with the head lights. "Thank goodness" the woman said to herself. She walked out into the road holding her baby in her left arm and waving the other in the air while shouting "Stop!"
Whether he was drunk, stupid, or just didn't see her, he didn't stop or even slow down. She did not get out of the way unhurt. She glanced at her left arm and saw a bloody mangled mess. Frightened and in great pain she looked at where the baby was. One could barely tell it was once a child. The face had been torn away and parts of the small body were missing. There was no way the baby could be alive. Crying and cursing the woman staggered and crawled into the forest. She didn't stop until she had no more strength to go on. Dying from loss of blood, she lay on her back holding the dead child to her chest. In her last moments she vowed vengence on the driver and then silently died.
The next week the same driver was driving down that same road delivering supplies into town. He noticed something glowing at the side of the road then realized it was a woman holding a baby wrapped in black silk that shinned in the moonlight. " You need a ride into town miss?" He asked politely.
"Yes, thank you so much. I was afraid of my baby getting a cold." She replied gratefully. A few moments down the road the woman asked the driver "Will you hold my baby while I get her bottle?"
"Sure," he answered. She handed him the black bundle and he decided that it would be perfectly harmless to take a peek inside, so he did. What he saw made him scream in horror and lose control of the truck. The woman screeched and launched herself at his throat.
The next day the wreck was discoverd and the man's body was among the remains. Most assumed that it was the wreck that killed the man -- but a car wreck can't scratch your eyes out, can it?
